Kidney Stone Diet Plano

  • Water Intake should be at least 2 liters/day or enough to keep your urine clear consistently.
  • Lemons and Limes Intake or drinks containing these help to inhibit most types of stones.
  • Limit Salt Intake as this acts to promote stone formation.
  • Excess Vitamin C is mobilized by the body into Oxalate which combines with Calcium to form stones.
  • Dairy Products should be taken in moderation but not eliminated.
  • Red Meat may also promote stone formation in patients with gout or Uric Acid stones. Moderation of red meat intake is the goal, not elimination.
  • High Protein Diets (Atkins, etc.) have been associated with new and recurrent stone disease.
